Back online again after installing new PSU tonight. Hooray! My initial problem with voltages dropping has been rectified. No alarms going off. All initially looks well.
However, my 5VSB is showing as 5.46V which is right at the top of the range - not fluctuating at all, just sitting there just under the alarm limit! Been googling for ages and going round and round. I know the tolerances are usually around +/-5% for the other voltages - is this one the same, cos I'm well over if that's the case. Been offline for nearly a week over this and need to get on with some work.... am I ok to carry on using this PSU?

It's the power supply used when your mobo is in standby. It will be constant because there's nothing to draw power when you are running normally.
Don't worry about it.

Cheers TOG. I was hoping that might be the answer. Very relieved. Don't tend to keep the computer on standby at all so hopefully should never be an issue anyway. Will sleep well now!
