Leftover Euro's - best place to convert
edchalk
Hi,
I've just got back from Italy with approx 40 euro's burning a hole in my back pocket. Seeing as its such a small ammount I was wondering where would be cheapest to convert it back into £'s without paying overboard on fee's / charges ? I tried to switch it back at the beuro de change in manchester airport but they wanted to take a £5 fee (and their rate was poor) I've always used my nationwide card in an ATM for foreign currency withdrawls in the past so I cannot get a preferable buy-back from the initial issuer - any suggestions much appreciated

The Search function is very useful, as are the stickies at the top of the board.Gone ... or have I?0

As DMG says - this subject has been covered countless times before.
The rate on buy back will always be poorer - its how currency exchange works.
Your best bet is to hang onto them until your next eurozone holiday or find a family member or friend that is travelling and negotiate a mutually beneficial exchange rate with them.0 -
I was trawling through the search function and stickies for about 20 mins and couldnt find anything up-to-date so I thought it'd be quicker to post directly. It seems to me that one of the reasons it takes to long to extract useful information from long-winded threads on this site is that quite often people will post responses to a thread which are irrelevant and/or useless. Surely if you do not know the answer to a question there's no point in entering a response to it. By the same token if you consider reading my question a waste of your time, or you feel that it was posted unnecessarilly, why go to the trouble of reprimanding me for it ? I understand how currency exchange works thanks, I was just after some up-to-date information with regards to exchange kiosks on the high street that may be offering commission and/or fee free buy back promotions so that I can save some time when I nip into town in half an hour... but as it turns out it wasnt worth the bother. Post hoilday blues ?? me ?? never.0

You could have found the answer in the time it took you to type that.

I don't know of any high street shops that will accept Euros? I always thought that in the clothes shops that had € on the label, it was because they also operated in the Republic of Ireland, and it was cheaper to make one set of labels than two?0 -

I'm not sure of any that do either. If there are any, you can bet that the exchange rate is going to be pretty shocking.Gone ... or have I?0
