pull out ironing boards opinions please

Having trouble trying to decide if they're worth it or not ???

B&Q do one for £66.50, Wickes is £89.99 and MFI about £99. AFAIK it's likely that they're all produced by the same trade company "Hafele" - but you need to open a trade account with them to buy direct.

As we live in a small house with limited storage the convenience appeals; but it's a lot of money to shell out. Does anyone here have one?

I have a pull out worktop or breakfast bar from B&Q that works well, comes out from the drawer space which I am guessing is the same as the ironing board. Had it for years and can't remember how much I paid for it :)

i would love them to make ironing boards longer, when i am ironing my king size duvet covers i get in a right mess ;)

i am not very good at ironing though so maybe i just need to practice

on the original thread ethelhead do you have the space in the cupboard to fit one of these pull out ones as the ones i have seen have to come in a special cupboard or so i thought ???

simple solution to the quilt cover dilema

dont buy covers with frills on the edges and dont iron them just hang them over the banisters to dry and put them on the bed

I used to iron everything until I got wise to myself

the only time I iron quilt covers now is if we have guests

and if you invest in dorma covers they never need ironing

    ;D

The ones I've "seen" fit in a kitchen drawer and as I'm partway through having a new kitchen fitted & could sacrifice one. No I rarely iron; as evidenced by the fact that I've had the same iron & ironing board for about 21 years, but my daugher does.

Thanks for replies. I have one still unopened from Wickes (won't get a full refund if it's returned opened) but none of the 3 stores in the area actually have one on display. Sorry I'm just being incredibly indecisive

i like your thinking cathy with the banisters, but unfortunately i live in a bungerlow no railings for me!!!! I do find when they are dried on the line they dont need ironing, but when in the dryer they do!

I just get in a mess, with sheets everywhere and me nearly knocking the iron over etc.... ;)

take them out of the dryer when damp  ish

fold loosely and hang over two chairs back to back but a good distance apart

I used to live in a bungalow and thats how I dried mine off  so i didnt have to iron them

    OR clear a kitchen worktop
put a sheet on it folded and use that as an ironing board

    or a table

you get much more surface to iron that way
  • I love those foldaway ironing boards. In terms of adding value to your property, I reckon they are worth much more than the money that you pay because most people nowadays really don't iron that much unless they really have to and don't want to sacrifice unnecessary space.

Personally though I would need it to be fitted in a place where I could sit down, have a cup of tea to hand and either listen to the radio or watch TV at the same time! Which is probably why I am useless at ironing!

As my kitchen is a bit on the small side, I keep my ironing board behind my kitchen door. As the door is always open ( no thats not an invitation !! lol ) no one ever sees it ! ;D ;D ;D ;D
