Having some numpty IT qualities, how do I go about creating a recovery disk for my wife's Acer 5920 laptop ?

    Try this:

    1. Press the keys: Alt + F10 simultaneously once or open the Acer eRecovery Management program.
    2. You'll see a menu come up called eRecovery.
    3. If it's the first time you are running the application (units under a year old) it will ask you to create a password, so just create it.
    4. Once you've created the password it will give you an option at the very bottom of the screen that states "Burn Disk".
    5. Click the "Create Factory Default Disk" (something like that...).
    6. Select Create recovery disk and it will tell you how many CDs or DVDs you'll require.
    7. Keep these disks in a safe place!

    That's it I believe!

I think you probably need around 2- 4 recordable DVDs for this. If there is a PC World near you just pop down there (I don't usually recommend them!!). For media they're not bad, you only need a small spindle of disks, and I have seen a few offers on media in there.
