We have been quoted £1000.00 supply and fit for Quick step 9.5 m laminate flooring ( V groove plank style)- for 3 rooms, approx 33 m square. Lounge, hallway and porch. Price includes all trims, underlay and 6 door bars. I thought that was a good price - any one out there had it fitted recently could comment on it????

i would seriously consider buying it yourself and get a joiner to fit it.
If you read this with plenty of time i would get yourself over to dalry auctions 2nite (thur) they are selling laminates, door bars, edging etc..... at no reserve.
I asume it's from floors2go which have folded, you never know you could get a bargin.
If you buy everthing then it's only the joiners time you will pay for.
I bought enough for my wee boys room 12x10 = £130ish all in
New a recently retired joiner cash in hand £40.
Someone will know a joiner either family or friends so big savings to be had.0 -
When did Floors2go fold?
Still ok as far I was aware and still getting work from them?
Anyway......
quickstep 950 approx £35 a pack shop price and covers 1.5 sq m, so 33 square metres requires 22 packs = £770.
6 door bars = £60, bead = £80, underlay (good quality) = £110, labour (west mids) = 231, total = £1251
Would get 20% of flooring and accesories, so this would bring price to £1047, so what you have ben quoted is very good assuming the underlay is not too thin and has a damp proof membrane or one supplied separately!

Most joiners (where I live anyway) charge around £10 per pack to fit the stuff.
Its worth going along to a supplier and get them to give you a price for all the materials. Then phone a couple of local joiners and ask what they will charge to fit it.
It may work out cheaper it may not, but definately worth a look.
I fitted all my flooring myself, just took my time. I have worked in engineering for a while so I guess that helps with the skills, but anyone with a bit of DIy knowledge should be able to tackle it, and if not all of it, maybe some of it to keep the price down.0
