The 15-round series takes the team all over the world, and involves travelling thousands of miles in each country visited. With more than one third of the year spent on the move, the pressure of time is never far away.
In rallying, the difference between winning and losing is often just tenths of a second, even after three days of intense high-speed competition. On the rally stages, timing is everything. Drivers have specific times at which they must start each stage, arrive at a service point or check their cars into time-controls. Regularly travelling more than 500 kilometres each day, driver and co-drivers must watch every second to avoid costly penalties.
Whats more, once a rally starts, teams are under just as much time pressure as the drivers. With a limited amount of time available to prepare and repair their cars, the 50 individuals who make up the team always have an eye on the clock.
The World Rally Championship pits man and machine against some of the toughest environments on the planet. From temperatures of -25C in Rally Sweden, to the searing heat of mid-summer Greece and the deserts of Jordan, conditions are brutal.
