Just goes to show how stupid the moneysupermarket smartsearch thing is

I've never trusted the equifax smartsearch thing on moneysupermarket, but this just goes to show how stupid it is.

I've done searches loads of times for credit cards, and my credit profile is 'excellent' wooooooohoooo nice one.

i've just done a search for loans...... same information only difference is that it asks for salary (25 -35K).

Now it's 'fair' rubbish!!! So it must be my income...... or instead I'll never apply for a loan but get millions of credit cards instead......... lol

:D daft thing

 That's scary! I certainly don't have a salary like yours and didn't know that it would affect credit scores that much!

cattattat - lol don't worry about salary the point of the post was to show how stupid and inaccurate the smartsearch on money supermarket is.... I think things like debt to income ratio and current outstanding debt / available credit play a much more important role.

The point is: don't trust the smart search thing! The credit card bit doesn't even ask for salary, and both of them (loan and cc bits) don't want to know how much debt you currently owe - these things make a massive difference in real terms to what the lender reckons your 'profile' is.

Exactly. It’s a profit-driven service that lists some, but not necessarily the best credit cards, due to its commercial relationships.

You can get unbiased cc suggestions and comprehensive lists of 0% purchase, balance transfer and life-of-balance cards, updated regularly and not influenced by advertising commissions, at: http://www.stoozing.com, which is sponsored by Money Saving Expert ;)

I like the stoozing site, really useful for CC info. I suppose it doen't help if you've got a naff credit record though and need to find rubbishy lenders.....
