uk hols - cheap self catering cottage/house rentals

Does anyone have any good ideas to cut the cost of self catering cottage/house rental holidays in the uk? We have three adopted children who all have challenging behaviours, so hotels are out of the question. Camping is difficult because one of our children is faecally incontinent, so we need some privacy and good bathroom facilities to deal with this.

We spend a fortune on self catering hols in the uk because it's really our only option. We can't travel abroad because their behaviour would be intolerable on a plane! They don't do 'confined in a small space for a long time'!

I'm wondering if there is a way of getting the prices down with companies like Country Cottages or similar? Or are there any charities that might help a family like ours?

Any help would be gratefully received.
