Thanks Digi.
I received my Maplin recharger this morning. (ordered 21/10/2005 11:39:32) Quick efficient online service by Maplin and what appears to be an excellent product.
Your knowledge and advise is appreciated.0 -

I recently got one of these when Morrison's were selling them @ £9.99 without the batteries. Its not the fastest charger available, but the way it charges is superb. Using my old rechargeable batteries, they now seem to go on forever before requiring recharging, compared to my old uniross charger.
My question is, does anyone know of a good, low cost intelligent charger that uses Delta V control and charges small 9v PP3 size batteries? It doesn't have to be quick, but does need to be good quality charge, and with the ability to charge an individual battery, as well as 2 or more.
Edit: Just found this one, any other options please?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
This isnt an answer to Premier's question, but there is a charger called "rezap" which recharges ALL size batteries AND it recharges non-rechargable batteries!
I can only find it on QVC here in the UK ( QVC link )
Its just under £45 inc. delivery, which seems pricey, but if you imagine
4xAA batteries say £2.50, thats 18 packets of AA batteries, I use that many easily, let alone all the other batteries I use ... the square ones for smoke alarms, the massive battery with springs on for my torch, C and D size for my R/C car ...
I dunno but i think its a worthy investment it like me youre a battery fiend!
... think i should work for QVC
LLol_slimembarrassed to say I used to work for barclays..sorry0 -
Yep the two 7 day shop ones look fine - the AA/AAA-only one however does not come with batteries unlike the Maplin example.
I would be interested in some example times from the Universal one - if good, this seems an excellent buy.
Re. the "Do everything" unit - well I have had one for a while that will do Nicds, NiMhs & Alkalines up to "D" Cells. It does indeed work for supposedly single use Alkalines, but has the caveat that you will get more cycles the less run-down you let the batteries get. The best I've managed is 3 -4 cycles for 1/2 discharged cells.
***NB, these are specially-designed Pulse Chargers that are meant to recharge Alkalines - never put non-rechargable batteries into any standard recharger***
Re. NiMhs - your experience with much longer life from an Intelligent charger instead of an old Uniross Timer charger is a good example of why this type is superior.

@ digiteer thnx I hav got the charger from maplin I went in shop and also got student discount so paid 18.99.
I want to know that when I pluged the charger in it went thru a cycle (flashing) then red leds came on and then they turnd green which is trickl charge, so are the batterys charged or what? please if you can answer that.
digiteer i like u m8 you know what you are talking about and its good to have people like you here as I dont have a clue regarding battery chargers, memory cards etc.0 -
Glad to be of help - nice to be able to give something back.
The best way to handle these chargers is to plug them in first, the LEDs will do a quick sytem check, then put in your NiMhs.
As yours went quickly to green, they have probably been sent to you already charged.
NB., you don't get full life out of NiMhs until after 3-4 cycles, so be prepared to have to recharge them again sooner than expected, but they will settle down. Also, NiMhs will very slowly lose charge over the months even when not being used - no problem if you keep an eye on them and very quick to top up if neccessary with your new charger!
I always recommend keeping a 2nd set of fully charged batteries handy BTW - you never know when they are going to come in handy.
Cick here for my recommended NiMh supplier. Ian knows what he is talking about, offers free advice and sells quality products at good prices - mentioned in an earlier post of mine and supported by other Forum members.
