Just a couple of points about Rufford. You only have to pay for parking in the summer months and at weekends in the winter. Otherwise it's free.
If you go inside the small art gallery in the Orangerie you will hear electronic music being played continually. This single composition is supposed to last something like a thousand years without repeating itself. It's all to do with several tape loops being played at different speeds , hence almost infinite variations .What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Many thanks for all these tips
we had great time, enjoyed Sherwood Forest a lot, saw Edwinstowe church where legend has it Robin Hood married Maid Marion, went to Rotherham (first and last mistake - went to Magna and paid nearly £20 for a few hours entertainment, should have just gone in the cafe area and used the play area!) visited Doncaster and Nottingham, had some lovely meals in Blyth and surrounding area
will definatly be taking Travelodge up on their £10 offers again!! 0 -
Unusual yes, but could you say you actually enjoyed it? I didn't - give me a good CD anyday! Found it a bit gimmicky, but many of their displays have been good. I particularly like the man and sheep on bench - which used to be kept in the Orangerie before it was moved out to the lawned garden.trisontana wrote:If you go inside the small art gallery in the Orangerie you will hear electronic music being played continually. I agree it's unusual and quite nice to listen to for a couple of minutes. Last time we were there we took our dog inside. He seemed to enjoy it. Perhaps there are some extra notes us humans can't hear! What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0
