If you have a genuine copy you should have the product key, jsut borrow a disc off a friend and use that then put in your code. It shoudl be fine. You will need the correct disc though such as XP Sp2 or XP SP1. Alternatively there may be a recovery partition on your laptop that will allow you to reset it to factory settings. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
The product key will need to be for the same version of XP as the CD you have - i.e. if you have an OEM XP Pro CD, you can't use a non-OEM Home product key.
If needed you can get your current product key with either the Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder (no, I've no idea what they were smoking when they called it that): http://magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/ Or you can use the (logically named) System Information for Windows (SIW) program: http://www.gtopala.com/
If you do reinstall, make sure you have all the necessary drivers for your hardware. SIW might help identify what hardware/drivers you have installed.0 -
