Piggin, wow I didn't know you were the Mum of an autistic child - there are quite a few of us about. How old is your son?
He's 13. Though it has never been said officially, it would appear that he has high functioning autism (finally diagnosed with ASD about 4 years ago - only confirmed what we already knew!) so he has coped with mainstream education quite well. He did get a full statement at the beginning of his 2nd term at school so that helped!PigginSkint's debt free diary
