excel problems

:confused: can anyone help me i'm trying to create a formula ie =SUM(D5/D6) but it keeps on coming up the the total sum timesed(sp?) rather than divided and also the other way around ie =(sum(D5*D6) comes up with the total divided. I hope this makes sense, if so how do i change the symbols back to what the should be with…

Agreed if you have a figure (eg £250) which is the TOTAL cost of the item and the VAT then to find the cost of the item without the VAT then you need to divide by 117.5 then times by 100.

eg £250 / 117.5 = 2.128
2.128*100= 212.77

Or as above.
