depends if it's a floater or not, they normally break after a few flushes

Why put bleach in the cistern?

You can use those loo blocks to drop in the cistern (blue, green or clear) but if your toilet is flushed after use and you clean your toilet bowl regularly with a loo cleaner like Toilet Duck or similar then I can't see the need for anything in the cistern.

I was going to buy the loo blocks but decided thin bleach would be cheaper, but you can't get the cheap thin stuff with the nozzle to go around the rim (I've spent WAY to long thinking about this, can you tell???) so that's why I thought it might be a good idea to put the bleach straight in the cistern so that it bleaches everything as the loo flushes.

not sure if my loo is a floater or not, how do I tell????

Aldi do a toilet bleach (with nozzle), not as thick as Toilet Duck or Domestos perhaps but adequate. Much cheaper than the branded ones. I've used it for ages. Lidl probably do one too. Probably in the same price bracket as someone else's thin bleach.

Bleach is pretty much wasted down a loo, it only hides the limescale, a limescale remover is better.

With bleach wouldn't it be gone after one flush, unlike a block which lasts for a few weeks?

I've never had limescale anywhere. I've seen toilets on the TV that's had it and it looks disgusting. Is that just caused by hard water?

I think that was tongue in cheek. It took me a minute to get it. :rotfl:

    hee hee :rotfl: .

Take the lid off your cistern if you have an arm with a ball at the end, that's

    the float.

I had the same thought as you once so I shoved in some good old Domestos.

Problem was, when the cistern flushed and refilled, the bleach kinda foamed up and I was panicking in case it was going to go over the edge of the cistern. :rotfl:

I stuck to blocks after that. :D
