Do MBNA platinum really take 7-10 days to decide?

Just wondering as I made an application for an MBNA Platinum CC online earlier for a better deal and the 'decision' said they will let me know in 7-10 days...
Do they really take up to 10 days to let you know if your application has been successful-or am I likely to hear sooner?..also is the fact I didnt get an instant online decision a bad sign?

Thanks

  • You can always ring them up and ask if your application has been approved. I've heard of people who were informed that they'd been approved, then rang up and actually did BTs before even receiving their card in the post!

We used to be able to do that. We can't now for security reasons and I wouldn't be surprised if others have followed suit with Abbey, if they hadn't already.

I always get an instant decision from MBNA "sling your hook" Don't know why got good CR. When they ran the Abbey card always got turned down, but since it's run in house got accepted no problems.
