I know what you mean when you say this seems so drastic, I felt exactly the same way when CAB advised me to go bankrupt and still tried for a month after they said that to find another way, but there just wasn't one.
Now I've done it, I feel like a weight has gone off my shoulders. Still got alot of problems to sort but at least I'm not so scared everytime the phone rings now.
Re your Lloyds TSB bank account, I did exactly the same to escape Barclays for the same reason (are we twins??) opened one there before I realized they were not know as the most friendly for bankruptes. But I'v spoke to the OR and he saids as it's only the basic one, he has not interest in it, if they had frozen it he would have opened it for me to get my benefits out of. He did say it was upto the bank if they would let me keep it and I'd already set another one up with co-op because before I spoke to him. Anyway rang Llodys today expecting them to tell me to get lost and they said it is fine I can keep my basic account there :j happy about that because at least they give you a proper visa debit card, which seems to be accepted more widely then the co-op one. So going to have one for bills and outgoings and one for day to day stuff to try and help me budget.

Straight after the bakruptcy hearing you will have a first quick (ten mins) interview (usually on phone) with the Official receiver one of the questions they ask at that stage is any of the money in the accounts for everyday living expenses? they are entitled to take monies but from what you describe of your case they won't0

Welcome. The only comment i have to make is make sure you do not sell your car below the market value as the OR will see this as getting rid of an asset and not be happy.

Mrs Bones, sorry to be the harbinger of bad news but Lloydds WILL close the account. Unfortunatly the drones in the call centres don't understand about BR unfortunatly. It will be higher up the line that will close it. Make sure you have no money in it. Unfortunatly the type of card on that account in essence allows you to guarantee payment even if there is no money the account.
Can I also just say that people keep saying that the Electron card is not excepted every where but I have had one for 6 years and rarely have problems. I can count on one hand the places who have not excepted it.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -

Does anybody know what happens with mobile phone contracts, are you allowed by the phone company to carry it on, does the OR allow a mobile?
What about other things such as Broadband, are they classed as luxuries?

Because of my health problems I shop on line all the time and the only problems I have is with Tesco online, booking trains and Travel Inn/Lodge. Vera The OR is not intested in the normal household things like tv,computers ect.
When i did my SOA i just included my broadband under the title of phone;) .
