Their customer services suck.........half hour waits before calls are answered.
The order service is equally as useless, with lengthy waits and an "ooh we can't do that attitude".
Their on line service is non existant.
Ordered 10 items totalling £300. Deliver 2 after 16 days, deliver another 2 after a further 2 days and then cancel the rest of the order after a further 10 days.
Emailed numerous times to receive the standard
"I am sorry to hear of the problems you have experienced in ordering through our Online Ordering service. We strive to ensure each customer's experience using the service is a positive one, and so I am concerned to learn of your disappointment.
I will now ensure that your comments are logged with Senior Management within the department, and I can assure you that steps will be taken, both immediately and in future training sessions, to address this individual issue and to monitor the situation in general.
I can assure you that we endeavour to keep our website as up to date as possible to ensure out of stock items are removed from the list as promptly as possible. However during busy periods this becomes more difficult and some items take longer to be removed from the website.
I must emphasise it is never our intention to inconvenience our customers in any way and I can only apologise sincerely on this occasion. Once again thank you for your feedback, and should I be able to answer queries on any future occasion, please do not hesitate to contact me."
Strange despite asking three times I can't seem to find an explanation in there as to why goods that were shown as despatched were never received.
Somehow I feel my forthcoming debenhams bill will not reflect the truth.
Be warned steer clear.

I just wrote this in a different thread but will paste here as it is so appropriate:
I wrote a complaint to Debenhams last week after a shambolic online order. The website said my stuff would come within 5 days - after 18 days I had rung them twice to be told, "it's been despatched" each time. Then I received a letter to say the items had not been in stock when I ordered but that the website didn't realise that. By the time a refund came it had been over 3 weeks since ordering, obviously I never got my stuff and I'd spent 2 long phone calls being lied to about the order!
I got a letter from Debenhams today saying sorry. That's it! I thought they would at least send a voucher or something.
So my advice to anybody shopping at Debenhams is to do it in store, as the one other time I used them (before this incident) my order took a lot longer than stated. And they don't seem to care about complaints.0
