My BF is on jobseekers allowance and unfotunately his grandfather passed away. We live in Scotland and the funeral will be in England.
Does anyone know if he can get any help towards the cost of travel there?

Yes, he can apply to the Social Fund for a loan or a Community Care Grant for a one off payment. He may need to provide evidence. The decision makers can swap these applications if you apply for one but the other is more suitable.
Or ask at Jobcentre for travel warrant. though I think these have ended)

I successfully claimed the cost of two journeys to visit a sick relative in hospital, as well as the subsequent funeral. I think it was a Community Care Grant that I received, I forget now, and on the forms I just stated how much the petrol had cost me for the first journey, and the train fare for the second one, and I received a giro cheque covering the total cost a week or two later.
As you live in Scotland they may do things a little differently up there, but it's certainly worth asking"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

I've just managed to locate the relevant information for you on the Scottish section of the CAB website and it looks like you'll definitely be able to claim for the travel costs
Travel expenses
A community care grant can also be awarded to promote community care by helping you or a member of your family with travel expenses, including the cost of overnight accommodation, as long as the travel is within the United Kingdom. The travel must be necessary to:-- visit someone who is ill
- attend a relative’s funeral
- ease a domestic crisis
- visit a child who is living with their other parent while you are waiting for a court decision
- move to suitable accommodation.

DWP - Services and benefits - A to Z - Community Care Grants
has the official details and a link to an application form.
Do check the savings limit which will be applied and don't forget this is a budget limited fund you local office is using so it will depend on how this claim is seen as a priority and the other demands the office is judging it against.
The social fund is a budget limited scheme and there is only so much money available to the fund each year. Even if you qualify for a community care grant this does not necessarily mean that it will result in an award. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program
