Paint metal double glazing?

Hello all - A very dunce-like question, so apologies in advance! Is there any reason why I can't paint some rather old metal double glazing white? Can't replace as in a rented house and it looks so gross!

If you can, would you need to prep and paint with specific products?

Thanks!

We have aluminium double glazed patio doors and I hate them, so we are going to paint ours, I assume we just rub them down and use a paint suitable for metal.

To paint aluminium you should use "etching primer" first.

See my post above but get the landlord's permission in writing before painting his frames.
