Hi you can get a return train ticket to Manchester mid week on Virgin Trains for £14, then just get a return ticket to Liverpool from Manchester.0

Try Megabus or a fun fare on National Express or an E-ticket on the train and pay for Manchester to Liverpool separately either by traain or coach0

If you book in advance the train fares can be much more reasonable - as it's on to the end of August maybe look a bit further ahead?
Avoid weekend rail travel as well - engineering work disrupts the schedules and they offer few if any cheap tickets.0 -
Don't forget National Express as an option it's about £40 for a return to liverpool from London.0
