My wife is taking her car to get the brakes checked tomorrow. It is likely that the discs and pads need replaced and the hand brake loosened a little.
Any ideas of the sort of cost we should expect as we dont want ripped off.
thanks in advance

New front pads ands discs cost me a suprising £42 in total, but fitted myself. £100/125 is all I would pay, but get ready to be creamed
Sorry, just no faith in what it costs as against what you pay
Bri.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
https://secure.gsfcarparts.com/shop/
bash in your details on there..remeber discs are priced each and the pads will be a whole set
then it ought to be around an hrs labour to fit them
please dont go to quik fit and get robbed0 -
Remember that evn the fist time round discs can and probably will need doing at the same time as pads. With an early car like yours they not have been doneI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

labour can be £30-100 an hr depending on where you live and what garage you choose
quik fit will try and tell you every moving part is worn out and the free replacemnts are on the condition you agree to all additional work ...so its no bargain
does your mechanic friend not know anyone that would do it for cash?
i think id trust brakes from that link i posted before ebay unknowns...its free mail order too btw0 -
Considered getting a Haynes manual and giving it a go yourself? That way you know it's done properly.0

At most it's an hours labour per side plus parts. Should be easily done for under £150 and if you're careful about where you go, under £100.0
