Saunier Duval Problems

Hi. I am still having problems with this boiler and I feel its time to get a new one.

Anyway just had British Gas round to quote me for a new boiler (Valiant ecoMAX835), new timeswitch and new wireless thermostat. They have just quoted me £5314.66 (just over £10,500 on finance) OMG

Obviously this is excessive (imho) who else do I get in to quote? What do I have to look for?

It used to be said..knock a grand off a BG quote and that's reasonable. A lot of plumbers used to quote in this way !

Looks like it's changed to ...knock 3 grand off a BG quote and you'll still have a fairly expensive job.

...although I havent seen how much work there is to do.
You dont say if you're having some new rads or if its a replacement combi. I would assume for that price they are converting your system from fully pumped to combi ??? I don't know ??

They are just changing my 5 year old combi boiler in my loft to a new one. One that works. all the radiators and other pipework are going to stay.

They would have to change the flue but that is about it. For the boiler alone they want to charge £2500 + VAT
