How to open links in new window

I have always been able to click on a link and it opened in a new window. For some reason this no longer happens when I click on a link the existing window is closed and the new one opened with no way of getting the original. I am using IE6.

    Try this:
Open Internet Explorer by double clicking the blue E icon on you desktop.
    Click on tools
    Click on Internet Options
    Click on the Advanced tab
Scroll down to “Reuse windows for launching shortcuts” and uncheck
Finish and close the dialog by clicking "OK"

    Better still use Firefox.
 Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:

Tried the above but still no joy. It only opens the new window but closes the original. I also use Firefox and the same is happening. This has only recently started to happen and I cannot recall changing anything in the options recently.

I use CCleaner at boot up as an auto option. When this problem happens another added problem is that the new window does not have the back-up option (it becomes greyed out)

Just done a system restore and it has sorted out the problem. It must have been a registry issue. Still dont know why.
