Cheap holiday...willing to go (virtually) anywhere!

I'm looking for a cheap holiday and any help would be much appreicated.

I have leave at work from 23 August til 7 September inclusive, which includes the August bank holiday so that's not going to help with prices much, but the only time I could get leave! Looking to go away for at least 7 days.

We are travelling as a couple. We are both in our mid 20's and are looking for a relaxing break and the chance to see some new places. We are on a limited budget, but we love travelling and would be happy to consider virtually any destination as long as the holiday wasn't too pricey.

We are based in the Midlands so flights from Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool or East Midlands would be preferable, but we could travel to other airports if necessary.

I've had a look on the net and I've not been able to find anything cheaper than £199 for 7 days self catering inc flights, which would still be pushing the budget a bit. We are happy to consider virtually any type of holiday, renting an appartment, hotel, city, beach...really just would like the chance to get away and go somewhere new.

Any help much appreicated.

Ryan air have cheap flights to Dublin form Birmingham eg.Sat 30 August to sat 6th August £29.96 including taxes (bags extra). Book accomodation in Dublin such as the travelodge for those dates.

Stansted to Cologne with www.germanwings.com 29 August to 5 Sept £67.09 per person return including taxes. Book accomodation separately. Look on laterooms, travelrepublic, alpha rooms etc.

Until 29th August travelzoo have a deal advertised for a french alps hotel all inclusive with pool etc for £29 per night pp. Flights with easyjet.

If you could link this up with flights or car and ferry crossing.
  • You may be better off booking separate cheap flights and then hostel accommodation at your destination to keep the cost down. Although given the time of year, you may have to be pretty flexible.

Try hostelworld for hostels (dont be fooled - many are better than hotels) and have a look at the cheapest places to fly on Ryanair's website for that period.

    Good luck!
