1st class train seat for standard fare

VIRGIN Pendalino trains from Liverpool until the 7th September have downgraded coach G from 1st class to standard class.
Coach G has 1st class seats in and although you will not get the 1st class at seat service you do get the wider reclining seat and additional lighting.
It might be that all VIRGIN Pendalino routes will be operating the same policy as maybe not much 1st class business travel takes place during the summer.
So when booking ask for reserved seats in coach G.
Kerching!!

I work on the trains and can confirm this is CORRECT.
All services with the exception of the 07.05 from Manchester to London will now allow passengers with standard class tickets to sit in what is the equivalent of a 1st class carriage. Please note :
1. If you have an ADVANCE ticket the rules state that you MUST SIT IN THE SEAT in which you are booked.
2. PRINT AT HOME / MOBITIX are allocated to a carriage, usually coach E and you have to TAKE THE SEAT WHICH IS YOURS
3. Some peak time services are being re-evaluated so it may be worth asking. Those where there is a large demand for 1st class peak time travel have already been changed back so coach G is 1st class ONLY
4. It is FIRST COME FIRST SERVED
5. NO OTHER 1st class carriages may be used
6. This is a TRIAL and it may be withdrawn at any time
7. Coach G is NOT RESERVABLE
8. Anyone with a 1st class ticket sat in Coach G will NOT BE SERVED0 -

Thanks for this.
It seems that people with any kind of "cheap" ticket, ie advance purchase, will not be allowed to use coach G. It will therefore be available only to passengers with the more expesnive walk-up fares, and so will serve as a kind of business class.
How about passengers with Saver tickets, which sometimes come with seat reservations, but not always, and do not have to be used on the train with the reservation?0
