Hi all
I was wondering if someone can help at all.
Yesterday for some reason an Antivirus option popped up on my screen from Windows. I clicked yes and now I can't get rid of it! It's from Windows Security and is for Antivirus 2009 but if I want it I need to pay for it (which I don't want to) and now every time I am working a pop up message comes up to say I'm at risk etc. I've tried deleting it from my computer and it looks to have disappeared from there but I'm still getting these messages. How do I get rid of them?
Many thanks in advance

And in future be careful about what you're clicking "yes" to, i.e. don't even click without knowing what it is or checking first. Also make sure you have a decent security set up. What anti virus do you actually have installed, what's your operating system, and what firewall do you have?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Or this site which provides uninstall details too

The only spyware protection worth bothering with is :
AVG (Free)
http://free.avg.com/
Spybot Search and Destroy (Free)
http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html
Adaware (Free)
http://lavasoft.com/single/trialpay.php
They are all free.
ANY software popups that tell you to install antivirus/antispyware/registry repair/PC optimisation software are spyware.
If you want security seek it out yourself. Never accept "offers" to protect yourself. Its like a strange bloke knocking on your door and offering to change your house locks.
A guy at work actually paid one of these scam artists for "antivirus software". Luckily he mentioned it and was then able to get a refund from his credit card company.0 -
Thank you all for your help. I eventually used Super Anti Spyware (as on the Spyware link on the front page of the Techies forum). Fingers crossed it all seems to be working now and I'll make sure I'm careful about what I click in future!0
