Cupar - Polmont trains?

I need to get from Cupar to Polmont, but have never travelled on that line before. Do I need to go all the way into Ed. Waverley and back out again, or can I change before then?
Also, how do I find out about cost? I am very confused as to split-ticketing etc, especially as I do not know which station I need for the change to Polmont.
Any and all help gratefully received.

Your best bet is to use www.trainline.com. I had a quick look and it you will have to change at Edinburgh. You can get information on tickets through the site as well.0

If OP wants route & cost then go to https://www.nationalrail.co.uk
If they want to book ahead / find out about season tickets etc then go to https://www.firstscotrail.com
In any case you have to change at Edinburgh Haymarket unless you want to get off at South Gyle and walk about a mile to Edinburgh Park
There's no point BTW booking in advance as you don't save any money0
