Avast 4.8 - Issue with World of Warcraft

Ok...this is rather a specific problem but given the number of WoW players in the world, it may be something that has plagued others here and, according to some forum posts I have read, it may not just be restricted to WoW.
The issue: I started to get intermittent keyboard lag issues when playing WoW a few months back. Made the game pretty unplayable. After a hunt around I found some forum posts which seemed to associate the problem with the latest version of Avast.

I tried various suggestions to solve the problem but eventually had to ditch Avast completely and use AntiVir instead. Since then, I have had no issues at all with keyboard lag in WoW.
Not sure if the issue has since been patched in Avast....would be nice if it has because it's a good little prog and better than AntiVir IMHO.
