Do you guys think £15.44 a month is reasonable for it? excess is £60 and its vets fees up to £7000 with an unlimited treatment period- those were the most important points i thought? im also looking at MnS and more than but this seems at first sight to be better
edit- ok so im now looking at halifax standard which would be £14.24 a month, £50 excess, £1000 of vets fees a year arghhh so many choices!!!

£1000 per year isn't adequate, IMO. My dog needed an operation...£1500 of vet bills in a week!! I wouldn't go with anythig less tha £7K per year.
FWIW, both my dogs are insured with M&S and they have been very good to deal with. I've made claims worth several thousands of pounds and have had all payments made quickly and without question.0 -
thanks for your advice!0

I always suggest lifetime cover rather than a 12 month policy so the platinum would tick that box.0

Do spend the extra 20 minutes geting quotes from the other policies similar to M&S and Argos Platinum. i.e. AXA, HSBC, Halifax (eXtra), PetPlan. NFU is worth a look, but you'll have to call them (and their annual claim limit is lower in most cases). There are others mentioned in the various insurance threads.
Whoever you go for, they can put up prices in the future (as M&S people found out). That's just a risk you'll have to take. If you claim then you're effectively stuck with that insurer, so it is worth getting right.0 -
Hi
I would be interested in feedback on Argos Platinum.
I have priced and it is only £98 for the year. THe likes of Halifax, HSBC & AXA are all about £150. Is Argos Platinum sufficient and reliable? Are they likely to raise the premiums a lot in the second year. Am more than prepared to pay £150 if one of the others is much better, but no point paying extra if I am getting the same thing?0 -

Hi Shell,
I currently have the Argos Platinum cover, and so far it has been great. I haven't made any huge claims though I've claimed a recent £150 bill for grass pods in an ear, and about £200 in infection treatment last year. It can be very confusing looking at all of the different policies and deciding which is best!!
I have a crossbreed dog and it costs me about £14 a month, which is a lot more competitive than some of the other insurers I researched.
They are a pleasure to deal with over the phone, and claims are handled swiftly without problem. The only thing I would say is last year my excess was £50, and this year it has gone up to £60. But then they also seemed to upgrade the quality of their policies. Some insureres ask for £75 excess.
All in all I would 100% recommend them

I've just taken out a policy with M&S today - Premier cover for £12.75 a month - did look at others but this seemed to be the best quote for benefits etc and others have recommended - very hard to make a decision though as sooo many out there0
