uni accomadation (guarantur sp !!)

my son is going to uni in sep , his fees etc halls are paid for as im a low earner, but you still have to put a guaratur, cant spell that any way !, im going to put my self down but it asks for personal details such as if you have had any ccj which i have can they look at your credit rating to see and also how long you have lived at your present address ?
id be glad of any help asap as forms have to be in by monday

    I'd imagine that it's a standard form sent to everyone regardless of who pays their living allowances. If you were paying your son's halls fee's, then yes, they would look into all that sort of info in order to ensure that if your son couldn't pay the fee's, then you could afford to. Like they would if you were to be a guarantee for anyone in any situation.

    As your not paying his halls fee's, I very much doubt they would look at that section, and you may not even need to fill some of it in. If in doubt though, check with the uni to see what info they do want from you.

    It really annoys me that they ask for a parental guarantor. I came to university as a slightly older fresher (aged 21) and they still kicked up a fuss when I said I wouldn't put my Dad down. I had already been financially independant from my family for 3 years and could easily afford the rent and they still demanded a parental signature, what those without parents do I'll have no idea but this was Unite halls and don't get me started on all the other hassle I had with them.
