Steam/Shower unit

**Sorry its not all about money saving**

Hello all,

Wondering if anyone has used/owns a shower unit that also includes a steamer to create a steam room like atmosphere.
I currently have a shower unit with a square base and a power shower on the wall, but i am looking at getting a new bathroom and i love steam rooms so thought if i could get a new shower unit that has a steam room function i would be happy as a pig in mud. I understand that they have to be self contained to stop all the steam escaping as well as stopping the steam causing mould and moisture build up in the bathroom. Before i make the plunge i was wondering if anyone had any advice on what to look out for when getting one and any install issues i should take into consideration.

Thanks in advance for any help.
The orginal post in this thread has a very very slim chance of being about money saving. The post is more than likely to ask a question that google could answer better than any of us.

Hi I have seen these all in one steam / shower units on Ebay for about £500 delivered.

I can't see how they can be self contained though. If you have the space you will need a separate room with industrial strength ventillation and water management to keep the steam from eroding the walls and evrything else!!

You are looking at 3K plus for a small wet room installation. 2+ people proper steam rooms or saunas you will be needed a spare 10K plus.

You are right - definitely not moneysaving!! But hope someone with experience of installing can quote you less than that.

A friend of mine had a 4 person sauna, solarium, gym, spa and indoor pool about 15 years ago in a new build. Yes it was like a bloody David Lloyd under his house. Problem was he never used it because it cost a fortune to run and maintain!!
