Firm Ikea mattress suggestions please

Want to purchase a King size mattress from Ikea online but would like a firm one and no stores are local. Please if anyone can reccommend a firm one up to £300 would be very grateful.

We got the SULTAN HASSELBÄCK, and we love it!

Incidentally before this we had another IKEA mattress and the springs went in it, took it back and got refund no problem, over a year later.... the mattresses come with a 20 year guarantee!

You have checked that it will fit your bed? The Ikea sizes are different to the standard UK sizes.

I think they also do a few that are "almost" the correct size. Very sly indeed if you ask me ;)

Yes, I had noticed that! Think it would depend on what style of bed you had whether they fitted ok or not.

Same with lampshades, they only fit IKEA lamp bases, I was told this by them one day. European fittings.

I wouldn't bother. The mattresses are very average (in my opinion) As for the guarantees, you'll want to keep hold of your receipt. And as already pointed out, the sizing is slightly different
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?

My daughter bought a new bed last year. First she bought the bedframe on-line, then , after checking the measurements, she went around local shops and found a branded matress she liked (she likes a really firm one). Then she went on-line and bought it cheaper, including delivery. It was delivered really quickly too. Always best to try out a matress before ordering.

Thanks for all your replies I wanted to get a bed frame from Ikea online and was willing to go with their mattress as a matter of convienience. I feel a bit self conscious trying the beds out in store!!
Could you let me know your daughters very firm mattress and where she tried and bought online? And how much it cost. It may be a useful guide.

    Thanks

Well we had an Ikea bed before and was very comfy but gave it away when we moved to a smaller place. Don't worry I keep all my reciepts when I buy "things" just in case. Have them from over 10 years ago for some things so shouldn't be hard to hold on to a small piece of paper - especially if they guarantee for 25 years!!

Thanks for all the suggestions on here - I know that their beds are European size but am going to get a bed frame from there too - so it should fit!! Their double beds are basically the same size as a UK "King size". UK doubles of 4'6 are really very small and actually work out smaller than having a single bed!!

I think 5' should be a standard size double in the UK- we are in Europe for everything else measurement wise - why haven't beds taken that on??

Are we a small people or do we just have small bedrooms or like being squashed together because of our sub zero climate???!!

I agree with markelock, except that they aren't average, they are poor quality, but then I suppose it depends on what you are comparing it to.

Many UK bed manufacturers will make beds to continental sizes.

    UK Sizes

    Imperial
    Metric
    Small Single
    2`6"x 6`3"
    75cm x 190cm

    Three quarter or small double
    4`0"x6`3"

    Double
    4`6" x 6`3"
    135cm x 190cm
    King size
    5`0" x 6`6"
    150cm x 200cm
    Super king size
    6`0" x 6`6"
    180cm x 200cm
