How long does it take Woolworths to get back to you, I've just cancelled mine as well but I don't have enough money in my bank to order the better model.

Not too long I hope - I've just done the same - ordered the cheaper one, and then immediately saw the better one - cancelled the first and re-ordered the second.
My order status shows both awaiting despatch...I hope not!

its £269.99 with the 10% code

I was aware of that. I did not put it in my post in case someone else thought the 10% off was on top of the £269.99.

I've got checking security details on the second order (changed from ready for dispatch), whilst the other is ready for dispatch...

Argh just tried to cancel mine but think it may have already been despatched. I have contacted them about it though. When I ordered mine I somehow managed to use the wrong card! I had card details stored on the site already but wanted to use a different one. I inputted the new details which are now on the account but somehow managed to debit the wrong card!!!

Am clueless with these things so please bear with me....Is the cheaper one supposed to be faster as it says 1.73 GHz whereas the more expensive model says 1.6GHz? Thans :D

The second more expensive one has a dual processor ( i.e. 2 processors in one) so should do more work ( twice the brainpower) in spite of running slightly slower.

Your needs semm quite modest Sam. Can i ask what spec your current laptop is? The reason i ask is that my 17 year old son is using an ancient Acer laptop and he uses it for much the same reasons as you and it suits his needs perfectly. Ive even offered to get him a new one but he doesnt see the need. Why dont you look to upgrade your existing laptop with some more memory and a bigger hard drive? That would only set you back a fraction of the £200 plus that you need to find for a new machine. Just a thought.

To be honest I think this laptop is on it's last legs... it hasn't really been looked after :o (2 small kids so it's been battered  ). My enter key doesn't even work so I have to have the on-screen keyboard on all the time and the screen sometimes flickers. It's gone quite slow too & keeps saying it's low on virtual memory. When I have tried to defrag it says it can't? It's a Advent 7081, 1.3Ghz, 40GB HDD, 256 MB DDR-Ram.

When I get a new one I'll make have to make sure it's looked after and keep my little rascals away from it, lol.

Not necessarily I'm afraid. One of the big 'issues' in the computer industry at present is how to truly take advantage of these processors. Most software on the market is not optimised to really take advantage of what the hardware can do.

You should see some performance improvement (and both are amazing specs for laptops when you consider that the Vista would cost you £50 or £60 anyway) but it will certainly not be a factor of two. Of far greater influence (especially with Vista) will be the amount of memory (RAM), so the £12 quoted for another 1GB memory would be money very well spent.
