Single, Redundant and need a break away!

In the last three months I've separated after 15 years, moved house and two weeks ago was made redundant. So I really need a break away - having had to be rescued from a near accident this morning having had to come away from the temp job, I need to get some time away.

My budget is about £500 - £1000 - I haven't a clue where to even start looking, never mind where to go. I'm not bothered whether it's beach or city, It would be preferable if it was a long weekend, don't mind if it's in Britain or Europe, but for my own sanity I need to try and get away from everything that's going on and have a change of scenery.

Can anyone come up with any ideas? The only thing I don't want is to stand out like a sad singleton!

Thanks.

I am wanting to go away in sep and having been looking at coach holidays because I dont really want to be stuck on my own I dont have the confidence to go it alone.

If you are looking to really clear you head time away, I suggest walking on the brecon beacons.
I am so sorry life is going so badly for you. With that budget I would be inclined to make it go as far as POSSIBLE for as long as possible. How about a ticket on the Euro star then a look round Paris staying in motel or hostel and work your way round Europe on the train? I always fancied marocco by train this is a fab site

    Good luck!

I want to do Morocco by train too! ;) Problem is that, for the dates I looked at, it works out so much more expensive than flying! x

Wow! What a whole landscape of opportunity lies in front of you! You're now completely unfettered and can do whatever you want. I'm quite envious....

Which airport are you near? what cheap airlines fly out from it? Why not just choose one, pick a destination, then go to hotelscomparison.com and find your hotel. Treat yourself to a beauty treatment, lunch and dinner out, take a good book.. spoil yourself rotten. You're not a sad singleton - banish that thought now! You're young free and single and the world is your oyster.

Actually, for your budget, if you could get a cheap flight, and a priceline hotel, you could go to the States - Miami, New York, Boston, Washington... I had a wicked weekend in New York on my own. Did the Big Apple bus tour, ate chinese alone in Chinatown (if it's good enough for Miranda..!), visited Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, watched the world go by from coffee shops. It was Valentine's weekend and I didn't even notice!

Have the time of your life!

Cazzie, that is such a fantastic post, thank you so so much! I've gotten myself into a bit of a tangle, and abandoned the car on the A9 this morning and had to be rescued by a trucker, hence feeling that I've gotten as low as I can get and I have to get away!

I can fly out of either Glasgow or Edinburgh, and I know you can get cheap flights to the States from Glasgow!!! I've never even thought about New York, Miami would also be fantastic as I'd get to see manatees again!

Cazzie, you will never ever know how much your post means to me, I truly mean that.
