Since getting the 0% BT bug I spotted an offer when doing my online banking - providing you are an existing RBOS (No idea how long you have to have been a customer) you get balance transfers FREE 
Seems to be just for first 3 months of the 9 months 0% deal but better than nothing They provide a facility during the application for noting BT's - if they turn out to be less than your credit limit they happen automagically otherwise they will ring you - or you can wait until you find out your credit limit and ring up.
They do provide cheques too but it looks like these you will get stung the 2%
