Scottish Power prepay issue

Hi All,
I have been sent two bills one for gas and one for electric, both on pre pay totalling £150.

I called scottish power asking what they were for, they informed me that i had not paid anything to them between Jan & Feb despite using their fuel.

Strange as i pay for my fuel at the local shop then go home and enter the card into the meter, they suggested that i could have used a fraudulent card to obtain gas & electric or a neighbours card.

I was furious actually being told i could have stolen their power, i handed the money over to the store keeper who then credited my prepayment cards on their machine, i dont have the reciepts and so have no proof.

I am so upset that they had the gaul to suggest i could be a theif and need help or advice to take them on.

Never have i felt so low. Any help would be appreciated.

PS i have also wondered can these machines that credit your prepay card be cloned or scammed at the point of sale? if i have paid and the shop keeper took the money but the power company insist they have not had the payment i can only deduct there is an issue at the point of sale.

For the gas, they should be able to find the payments using the serial number and (if your meter has it) the reference from screen 32.
For electricity, it depends on your meter. If you have a key, they should be able to find them with the serial number again.
If you buy paper tokens, the long number on the card will help them find the payments.

The serial numbers will be near a barcode and begin with L (gas) ans S or F (electricity)
