HELP! Holiday sunshine.co.uk amendment charges

I'd really like some advice. I booked a holiday with sunshine.co.uk for what I thought was october half term holiday, and then realised i got the dates wrong (in my area the holidays are later his year for some reason!). I wanted to change to an alternative flight and called up customer services who said it will cost £389 extra! I am really upset as the cost of the flight is only £160 more for the new date (same airline-Thomas cook) and in their terms and conditions it says there is an amendment fee of £25 per person. For a family of 4 i total that at £260. I can understand that there are penalties etc, but they haven't responded to my e-mail requesting a breakdown, saying this is the total cost from their suppliers (apparently Thomas Cook quoted £354 to change the date and flight and the hotel supplier charged £35 to change the dates).

Am i being stupid, because i feel i'm getting ripped off. Is there anything I can do about this?

hi, you are not being ripped off. as far as i see it, you booked flights and now want to travel at another time. the airline is being good enough to transfer your booking to new flights, rather than you losing the original booking and starting again, but in doing so will incur some charges. they also tend to charge the difference between the cost of the flights when you booked them, and the cost now.

i'm pretty sure as well that the amendment fees are per person, per flight i.e £25 each x 2 flights.

so you have £200 + the £160 + the £35 for the hotel = £395.

the way i see it you've scored £6. i may be wrong, and i'm sure someone else will say if i am.
