For the RAM look at OCZ, they're a really fantastic make.

Go for the Intel Q660 processor.

Get one of the Samsung Spinpoint 1TB drives.

I'd possibly look at another case than the Sonata's. They're ok but for heat dissipation and airflow they're not great. An Antec 300 with a Corsair PSU would be better. You need better airflow with the 4850 as they get really hot.

Definately get a decent cooler, Zalman make good ones.

For a mobo, look at the Asus P45 boards.

It's a very good card, but on load it can push 90degrees in temperature. Unless you want to fit an aftermarket cooler, then you need a decent set up to get air out of the case well.

Personally I only ever use Crucial memory - never had a problem.

I know folks who have been unable to send faulty RAM back to ebuyer - they take it back , "test it", says it's ok then send it back to you again.

Oops sorry your right about ram. No haven't ordered anything yet just getting ready for parts it will be next week when I do

Thought it was odd about the price

Is there anything to gain much by a quad core or best go for dual core 2?

I was thinking of going for next Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 (3.16) but its almost £50 more than a E8400 (3.00Ghz)

I would go for the quad core
I just built one for my daughter
Antec 900 case ...Very cool ,and very cool :)
Q6600 slacr with a zalman cooler ...Like this one
    145644-Zalman_cooler.jpg

The cores are running around 30 degrees
I bought 4 gig the OCZ ddr2 ram off ebuyer ..Runs a cas 4.4.4.15 at 2.1v
    p5k mobo (although I wanted the p5kE)
I went for the Zotac 8800 GT graphics found on hotukdeals
and the samsung spinpoint 750 gig hard drive
I stuck in a samsung SATA dvd writer from play.com.
..This machine runs very cool and so quiet all fans are set to lowest .
The newer cases seem to be fitting the PSU at the bottom of the case ..This seems to help with the air flow .
The other machine I have is in a coolermaster wavemaster case ....This is not patch on the antec for cooling.

I would find out what components you want .Then scour the web to find the best price .
The only one I messed up on was the mobo ...Bought from Misco (and that will be the last item I buy from them) ...It came up in the P5k-E list and was only slightly cheapest ..Only to arrive and then realise it was only p5k ...
Scan is cheap and I think the hexus forum link is still a way to get free delivery ..If you post a few times on the forum.
Hotukdeals is good if you have a bit of time to wait for a bargain ..
And good ol' Ebay is worth checking out
I got a nice Corsair PSU from scan I forgot to mention earlier.
I only loaded up XP as the kids moan about vista issues .
