MS Wireless Optical Desktop 1000

  • I've got a Logitech wireless mouse, but it gobbles up batteries (2xAA) and I'm not a particularly heavy PC user.

Out of stock at the moment.. But looks like a pretty good deal so I placed an order anyway for when its back in stock.
  • I have used an almost identical model as this wireless desktop for the last four years, and it has been through about four sets of batteries.... not bad when I am a 'heavy' user!
It does pay to get the decent batteries such as Energiser, or you could probably use rechargeable ones.
In terms of hardware problems, I have never had any problems getting the mouse and keybaord to 'talk' to the system - unlike my brother's Belkin one which always seems to be causing problems!
I also think the quality of the hardware is very good - this is certainly one thing Microsoft are good at! :D
Unfortunately however the mouse has recently started to play up, but this could be to do with spilling water all over the table it sits on!
My only query is in the difference between this model, and one on Novatech for £24.99, advertised as the 'deluxe' model? Any ideas would be great!

:o Hi everyone. Have a look at 7 day shop.com. It is doing a great deal on cordless mouse and keyboard. I have bought 2 already.

    Regards, Uzi.

P.S. I bought 2 and it worked out at £14 pounds each.
  • I disagree. I have a wireless mouse and keyboard - both work faultlessly and the batteries (recharged in the receiver unit) last months. Wires? Schmires!
    Vin.

I use rechargable batteries and although I agree what you say about it does not move, I do think it is much better being wireless for the mouse as all my attached ones used to fail on the lead.

    mine is/was a chicony
it ate batteries until I put in Nimh 2AH ones.
problem is I kept dropping the mouse. Every time I had to unscrew it and put it back together. Are these MS ones robust?
  • Uzi or Mad.dog does the 7dayshop mouse have a side button? i.e where you thumb rests, if your right handed.
if i had known then what i know now

I use a Logitech wireless kb/mouse every day at work, and it's wonderful. I have, however tried a few cheap ones and found them to be utter rubbish, particularly those on the 27MHz Radio-Control frequency. Poor mouse response speed, and pointer liable to jump around; it's worth the extra few quid to buy MS or Logitech rather than a generic one, unless you get chance to try it first or it's easy to send it back!
