Beauvais airport car hire - credit card deposit?

Hi there,

We are flying out to see OH's family in France at the end of the month and thought we would hire a car for the first time over there as we have a fair bit of running about to do. Only thing is though that I don't have a credit card and he's not a driver. I just got a Sterling prepaid Mastercard and I know in theory you can phone them up to get them to allow you to use it for car hire - has anyone done this? Does everyone get accepted? Also, should this be fine, does anyone know how much of a deposit is taken? Or do they just take an imprint? We're thinking of hiring through Easycar.

Do your relatives know if there is a HyperU or SuperU supermarket near? They do car rental, much cheaper than the normal companies, but reserve in plenty of time. You can pay, leave deposit with any debit/credit card or Euro cheque.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions - I'll try and find out re Super U. If anyone else has any experience hiring cars at Beauvais I'd love to hear about it - particularly how much security deposit was taken.
