in our experience they leave you with the car if you need it for work

In general you will find they tell you if they want something but they won't tell you if they don't. So no news is good news. If you are really worried then give your OR a ring/email and ask.

You should get a letter confirming that the car is exempt.

My car wasn't exempt, on the grounds that my OR is a git, and along with my cherished plates I got a third party to pay for it (the grand sum of £200), but have still to receive anything like confirmation of payment or that it's now still mine and the OR won't be taking it - but then I haven't had a lot of contact with my OR throughout my BR, so that might have something to do with it.

I'm going with 'no news is good news' - I think they are so busy that getting round to doing stuff that isn't in their interests isn't the highest priority (oh, cynical ole me :P)

I suggest a quick call to the OR office to confirm, we weren't sure from the OR interview whether we could keep car (hubby does need it for his job) and we were too worried about rocking the boat to call. We left it 6 months and still hadn;t heard anything and were getting so stressed, in the end we risked it!!! and called and it had been exempted a while after our original interview but they had overlooked sending us the confirmation:mad:, so a call is definately worth it:D

Hi Debtless you need to make it very clear that the car is a requirement for YOU to get to work my DH car was exempt but they came after mine and didnt seem to give a sh*t that my income is essential for the household.

  • Hi,Yes you should get a form to sign and return and then you should receive a confirmation letter.Thats what happened in our case anyway.I did ask and was told, the not knowing is much worse than actually calling and finding out.
