dryer keeps tripping the electric

has only started happening today- any advice gratefully received!
2011- new year, new start.

    Sounds like a short circuit in the dryer. How old is it?

    I think a short circuit as well. Disconnect from the electricity and have a look at the electrics inside. May be that a wire is loose and touching the carcase of something like that.
    If it's not something obvious and simple, get an electrician with the right equipment to test it for you!

    thanks to you both. i took the back off and had a look- looks ok to me (but then i wouldnt know). twas a bit 'fluffy' so got rid of the fluff and tried again but it still happened.

    dont know how old it is as i got it off freecycle, but it certainly isn't a newer model. i am going to pop into the shop i got my washer from tomorrow and ask his advice

    ok i think it is something more than they dryer as my toaster just did the same thing.

    both sockets are on the same side so may be a problem with them. i have put a repairs report in to the council online so hopefully will hear back tomorrow

    now its all the sockets in the kitchen!! the kettle tripped twice this morning so have switched all sockets off for now grrr
