climbing roses
I wonder whether anyone could help me. I have two climbing roses which have been in the garden for a number of years. They have been absolutely full of flowers this year, but they are very top heavy. If I cut them back really hard would it encourage growth lower down or will I kill tham off. Normally I just dead head them.
Many thanks in advance.

You won't kill them but I would wait until autumn/winter to cut them back otherwise all the energy will go into producing new growth which won't flower this year and could get frost damaged next year. Good luck***************************************

Thanks for that, I thought they would get frost damaged if I left them till winter to cut back.Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance....0
