help and advice needed please

hello all.

we moved into our new home in April. there was a prepayment meter already installed with n power.

we called n power straight away and asked for new gas/electricity cards to be sent to us.

obviously in the mean time (approx 1 week) we had to put some gas/electricity on the previous owners cards or we would have had none.

n power then sent out our new cards and after a few weeks we decided that we werent getting a good deal and switched to british gas. we had never gone with out gas/electricity and our meters were always in credit (we have no debt with n power previously or during the short period of time)

anyway.. been with bg smoothly...

recieved a gas bill from n power for £75.00

then recieved an electricity bill from n power for £30

we had been with n power for a total of 5 weeks and been paying on a pre payment meter!!! how is this justifiable???

i called n power and the first response was... this is def your bill, u obviously didnt pay enough (although we payed for what we used!!)

i wasnt happy so called again and this time was told... sometimes it takes a while for the money on the card to reach us... we will investigate this for you, pl;ease do not worry and you dont need to pay anything at the moment..

so imagine my face when i recieve a threatening nasty message from n power on saturday saying final demand for payment!!!

i called them again and the customer service i recieved was appalling...

the man even said to me... *the money you payed onto your meter may well be sitting in our account and just not registered to your name/address - thats good for us but not for you*
what an !!!!....

i tried to argue that isnt my fault... ive been paying... and how can i be billed

gas £75 and in the 5 weeks have paid approx £60 on the meter

elec £30 and paiud approx £40 on the meter.

it doesnt make sense to me.... i just wanted to know how this is possible???????????

£75/£30 is more for 5 weeks tahn i paid when i wasnt on a payment meter and got bills!!!!

any help would be appreciated, thanks

Because you used the old suppliers card you will get a small decrepancy with your bills until the miss direct payments hit your account,
Also it does take anything upto 2 weeks for payment made through paypoint payzone to hit your account,
Also i would make sure they have got upto date meter reading and when you joined them did you make sure you gave your opening readings? as this could also account for the incorrect billing.

QAnother think i would check with them is that the meter is set correctly for your tariff - if it still set up on the old suppliers detaisl it will cause you to build up a debt or credit etc.

    Hope this helps
