Now I need some ideas what to make with it that doesn't involve a sewing machine (as I haven't got one yet).
I went into town to bank a cheque and find myself two jumpers from the charity shops. Instead I came home with a Jasper Conran hooded winter jacket, 5 new fleece tops from Primark, 8 christmas presents and 2 huge pairs of curtains. 1 book on The Country Housewife, 1 bread recipe book, 1 beginners guide to dressmaking, 1 book on cross stitch and a hardback novel
1 pair of curtains is headed for the drafty french doors in my dining room but I can't work out why I bought the second pair and am now trying to come up with something I can use them for instead. They're a lovely pale blue and gold heavy cotton material so I don't want to put them away and forget about them.

No but that's okay as the first pair are going in the dining room so throws might be good
I had thought of cushion covers too as I don't mind hand sewing.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Take the heading tapes off:
~ use them for a decorative throw on the end of your bed?
~ use them as a decorative table cloth?
~ invite my Husqvana for a visit?
If you hand sew, you could cut them down an make "envelope style" cushion covers with minimal sewing.
:T Great buys you got there :T (which reminds me, I need a therapeutic trip to the charity shops).~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Inviting your Husqvana for a visit sounds like a great idea but can you come too to teach me? If I manage to get my money back for the useless computer I plan on investing in one of the Aldi specials this week
I did have some great buys, the Jasper Conran jacket cost me £6, the tops were all £1 each and the 8 christmas presents were bought for £20 (half price 'new' stock from the Cancer Research shop) and both pairs of curtains for a tenner. All books were 50p each, I had a great day and spent very little but came home with loadsOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

How about a bedcover? Get some wadding and make one of Queenie's lap quilts? It is made of squares that can be folded and tucked into a cushion."This site is addictive!"

I actually made lap quilts from curtains the other day.
Luckily these were lined already so I just took the heading tape off, turned inside out and hemmed along the top where the header would have been, turned back the right way - shoved a hemmed bit of duvet in of the right size and then unpicked the bottom hem and flapped it over the lining, hand stiched (so that they come undone easy for washing). I've not bothered to put a pocket on the back as they are being used as sofa throws but you just need to work out how small you can fold the quilt - use that as a guide to cutting out a bit of fabric to stitch on the back - make sure you stitch it right sides facing, then just turn the quilt inside the pocket --- et voila - cushion!!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. What about a lovely runner for the diningtable/sideboard with matching napkins?
Or sew a long enough piece to go over the arm and under the seat of an armchair, put a couple of pockets on the outside and use it to store your remote controls, sweeties, hankies etc.:)0 -
what are they and how do i make one? I didnt understand the instructions have you got any pictures? Are they just like a sleeping bag and what is the duvet bit all about???? I feel like i need one even though im not sure what they are?0
