All these charities are very worthwhile causes and it's just a shame we can't give meaningful amounts to them all.

Personally I voted for the CAB, because I felt that a charity doing so much work defending the little guy against big corporations and helping people get out of debt was particularly relevant to this website.

I understand that completely ... site ethos, and all that.

Sadly, spending so much of my time working for guys who have had bits blown off, I tend to get rather focussed. That said, one of the smaller 'charities' I work with does a modest amount of helping them out too ...

The tragedy is that there are too many causes, and I just try to focus on those that help the guys who have given rather too much [without much in the way of thanks for losing bits in the process]. Undoubtedly it's a reaction to a very long and un-scratched Service career and seeing guys in their early 20s losing 3 limbs [yes, 3] in all those wars I didn't have to fight in my days.

This is a very good site, BTW. I shall inhabit [politely] once this little mission is over.

'Tis indeed. Polite inhabiting is boring though :)

Anyway, back to the question in hand...good to see that HfH is doing well. I have passed on the message about the poll too, will be awaiting the results eagerly tomorrow.

And I reckon that if you had let the poll run to 1605 it would have clocked 600 (or near as damn it)

NO-one disputes the great work that shelter box carryout and no-one is accusing anyone of 'cheating', but I do smell a rat! Sorry, but the figures are just too regular to be believable

    (from the figures given) 576 votes / 235 minutes = 2.45 votes / minute
    (potential figures 600 votes / 240 minutes = 2.5 votes / minute

    very nice and neat.............................wibble!

    from 1600 - 2300 I predict that sbox will hit 5300 votes (5226 on the nose and I'll donate a tenner!.........2 H4H and shelterbox ;) )

By the way I am in Europe, so 2300 my time is 2200 UK time and my little prediction is coming along a little too well!

SBox currently sat at 5034 with 1 hr15 minutes or so to push!

I am also hedging a bet tha SBox will hit in the region of 6300 by 0700 (uk Time) wibble wibble wibble

and at exactly 2200 (UK) 16% (5075 votes) + prediction of 150 votes/ hour = 5225 @ 2300 (uk) ...............ooops I was one out ........the shame of it, I'll never live it down!

    Copied?
    Out.

I am from neither.but I once served in the army many years ago. A time when sniggering little twerps like you made good breakfast food.

Just try not to be too clever - your ignorance is showing.

But I am pleased to note that 'Martin' has noted the anomaly of the unfair postings and will deal with it.

Apologies for any offence I may have caused there; I was trying to prevent the Army community chipping in and over-complicating the situation.

As to your personal insults in that post: I will just remark that I was serving in uniform in 1963. Were you?

    Have a nice day. ;)

I feel the whole thing is being brought down to a holiday camp "table who shouts the loudest" competition.

I feel robbed of any money that my clicks have contributed to this fund.
Maybe I will deliberately use the non-paying links in the future.

gomann, are you more than one person?

In post #73 you criticised my suggestion, then in post #78 you praised it.
In post #71 you said you were never a soldier, then in post #88 you impled that you had been.

    Hi folks,

First of all we are watching what is happening and measuring where its coming from. If people are asking people to vote on other forums, that's within the rules - multiple votes or automated voting are excluded and we are tracking them.

However lets take this back a step... please remember this is about "which charities get the money" not about "which charities dont get the money"... its a positive thing, without this no one would get anything. These four charities as well as Recycle and of course the MSE charity which gets the bulk of the funding all benefit and in turn between them benefit the wider community, environment and developing turn... surely not a bad thing?

    No, it's just me.

73/78 ... Neither criticsm nor praise, as I read it. I changed my view to accord with yours on the premise [as per the quote in 78] that corporate websites could be blocked after the initial post. I do listen to technical advice and am fully prepared to reconsider my position following better information.

71/88 ... No, I was never in the Army. Over 30 years service in the other two.

As to the "shouting loudest" aspect, are you implying that those outside the regular subscribers to this site should not be made aware of, or permitted to participate, in the Poll? And that supporters of causes should not attempt to generate additional support for their cause? I'm not seeking an argument, I assure you: I'm simply seeking clarification, because there are valid points to be considered.
