Help with Roxio Serial Number

Hi I was wondering if someone could help me. I have been going mad trying to download Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 suite to my laptop but the cd keeps asking me for the serial number of the laptop. I have inputed this 7 digit plus 2 letters serial number into the box in as many ways as I can (with letters without letters - there are 4 boxes so I have tried to spread the numbers across the boxes in many ways) but it won't accept the serial number that I put in. I have also inputed the various other numbers on the back of my laptop and it won't accept these either. How can I find out what number the cd is asking me for? can I find this on the computer? Any help would be appreciated.

I would imagine it's asking you for the serial number of the software itself, not of your laptop.

It should be on the CD, CD case, the manual, included separately in the box or on the box somewhere.

as it was an online download I imagine the serial number was provided in an email receipt at some point during the purchase

It's not a download, she's trying to install from CD. Just her terminology that's a bit awry.
Unless of course it was a download which she saved to CD.
