Relief bands and travel sickness

We need help ,travel sickness on a cruise ,we have been told that Relief Bands are effective ,but I have looked online and they are for sale at £89 .
Will it be worth it and can they be bought cheaper and where from.

They are cheaper than that on Amazon.co.uk at £47.49. I used acupressure bands (bought from boots for under £10) when pregnant as had all day long "morning sickness" and found them good. During my previous pregnancy the hospital consultant had to prescribe travel sickness tablets, as I was getting very dehydrated-the bands worked as well as the tablets, during my second pregnancy. My mother suffers from travel sickness and always says the bands are great, that is why I tried them.

As a long term travel sickness sufferer, I haven't found anything that really works.

As a sufferer since childhood (now 50+) my reaction now to the onset of travel sickness is to fall asleep and that is the only thing that alleviates it for me.

The strange thing is , I don't suffer if I am driving (thankfully). maybe because I am concentrating and become 'part of the car'

Because this is a precaution and it also depends how rough the seas are ,no-one can positively state that they will not be sea sick,and also cruises are the ultimate holiday ,total stress-free.Pilots also use these bands ,your question might be ,why be a pilot?Guess because they want to.

Acupuncture bands cured my travel sickness. That and an ample supply of Ginger Nuts. About £8 in Boots.

Quite agree, ginger biscuits have been very useful in relieving feelings of sickness for me.

We also went on a cruise this year and i was convinced we would be seasick.

I got lots of info and tips off www.cruisecritic.co.uk including seasick remedey's the best being ginger tablets, ginger crystals you can buy them from the health food shops. or you can try sea-legs.

Lots of other tips like eating green grapes, green apples, drinking ginger beer.
But honestly i have to say we didnt need any of it. We could feel a little movement of the ship at times but nothing that caused us a problem.

We do a lot of boat fishing and we have some chaps come month afte month and are sick as dogs and then come again..... I guess they like fishing.
We use the general sea sick tablets £ 2-3 a box. It is unlikely it will be rough enough to throw the ship about like a fishing boat...

You can buy a product called sea-band from most pharmacies,It's an elasticated wrist-band with a sort of button on that goes on the acupuncture point on the wrist.Costs less than £10.
