Capping rates and moving house

We have just recently taken out a capped rate Gas and Elec service and are also in the process of moving house. We have been told that as we have already capped our rates we will have to pay to have them "re-capped". Are there any providers out there that will cap our rates and also allow us to move house within the capped rate period or will we have to take out a new capped rate deal on our new house? We are not moving for atleast a couple of months which is why we want to cap our rates now.

It surprises me that a company would not allow you to keep a particular product after a change of tenancy. ScotishPower will allow a customer to retain their fixed rates following a house move.

When I was looking at the SP Fix till 2011 I didn't go through with it as they said transfers were not allowed and I moved house last month.

That surprises me, maybe they have changed how they operate but they used to (and I am talking of earlier this year) allow product retention across a tenancy change

    7. If an applicant leaves the property to which an Offer Product
applied, that customer will not be able to transfer that Offer
Product to another property. However, such a customer will
be entitled to apply for the version (if any) of the Offer Product
on offer from ScottishPower for that other property.
