Housing Benefit - 2 or 3 bed?

Atm im in a 2 bed council flat with my 2yr old son, i am trying to find a house that i can rent privatly but im in recepit of benefits atm. Housing benefit have said they would pay upto £550 a month for me the thing is in the area i want i have found a property £575 which isnt a problem as can afford the £25 a month extra but the thing im wondering is would hosing benefit pay for me in a 3bed even though i only actually need a 2 bed?

I dont see why its a problem as most the 2beds in the same area are the same price as this.

Thanks

Housing Benefit has been replaced by Local Housing Allowance (LHA) if you rent privately. The figure that is allowed is for the property to suit your needs so if it is £550 for a 2 bed house and you rent a 3 bed house you would still receive the £550.
